good bood, good story, super sad last chapters that had me absolutely weeping, but sadly didn't really catch me or held me captive, personally didn't love the writing style, simply didn't keep me hooked eventhough it's a good book

I loved this book. The writing was wonderful and what a magical way to tell this story.

second time reading. started at 4:30, just finished at 11pm. knackered but damn. it’s a beautiful book if i just. ignore the original source material. some great, Great lines tho and it’s a book that was very necessary to be written even if me and how some of the women’s plot lines in this don’t get on

Mostly lives up to the hype! I think this is better written and more heart-wrenching than Circe, but tbh I actually enjoyed that one more! I was rooting for Circe most of the time, or at least feeling with her; it was a bit hard to feel anything but a numb sort of pity for Achilles and Patroclus by the end. Locked into their fate both by greedy adults and their own pride, I knew where the story was heading so it was less emotional on the way. The giant time skip didn’t help; at one point they said they were 27 and I was like !?!?!??

The post-Patroclus bit, while necessary, really dragged and just rubbed salt in the wound 😭 intentionally, but jeez
