If this had been my first academy romance, I might have liked it more. As it is, this had been done many times before, and much better. There's nothing new here.
Things I liked:
The idea. This was a neat setup with a tentative treaty between humans and aliens and humans entering the aliens' military academy for the first time.
Things I hated:
Both main characters talk to themselves verbally all. the. time. Multiple times a chapter. They'd talk to us with internal monologue and then they'd answer themselves verbally even when they were in groups of other people, or standing in front of their class about to teach or sitting in on a meeting. Who does that and why are two whole characters doing it so often?
Events that are happening in real time are always cut short right as the importing thing is about to happen to switch to the other character's POV (which usually takes place before or after that). Then whatever was happening that we would have been excited about is instead paraphrased after the event the next time we go back to the other character's POV. So we're continuously told what has happened after it happened, instead of sticking with it in real time and letting us see it happen.
Along these same lines, the book barely touches the surface of anything important. Feelings, past experiences that shaped where they are now, current events, interactions with characters, they're all breezed over or alluded to, so that by the end it's hard to care for this world as a whole. Something huge happens with the MMC's mother and although we see a conversation where some of the fallout is paraphrased, we never see how his life and station changes in real time because it's never an issue after that. The mother and his family are never mentioned after that because again, important things are only given a surface level introduction.
❌ Mostly hated: Big hfn ending. We barely get the MCs deciding to actually be together instead of being temporary, we see none of how that fits into their lives as teachers and with them being different species at an alien academy, and then the book just ends. And the parts about them coming out together publicly were paraphrased past-tense because we skipped over all the important stuff that happened after the maze. We don't even see if the FMC makes a decision to stay at the academy instead of going back to a huge promotion like she was promised for her success. Smh

This was my first book by this author & I was not disappointed. I'm still new to the world of alien romance so I definitely went into this book blind & not knowing what to expect. The slow build up to Ariana & Volten finally acknowledging their connection was absolutely worth it. The story overall had me hooked from start to finish. Seeing two species come together despite the attempts to keep them separated is always something I'll dive into. The characters in this book are beautifully written, it was very easy for me to visualize them as I read. I look forward to reading more from this author & immersing myself in her world.

I was completely hooked from the very beginning!
I loved the characters in this book. Both Ariana and Volten are strong, determined, and complex characters. They each have their struggles and challenges to overcome, and their relationship is both fiery and heartwarming. I enjoyed seeing them grow and develop throughout the story.
Legacy is an action-packed, suspenseful, and steamy read that will leave you wanting more. The ending was unexpected but satisfying and it also left me eagerly anticipating the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sci-fi, romance, and a thrilling story. I can’t wait to see where the story goes next!

I already knew I loved Tana Stone, but this book just increased my love for her. The first in a series, it could have been slow with all the world building but it wasn’t. I was hooked and didn’t want to put it down to adult. This gave me Ender’s Game vibes with the deathly war school but mixed with romance. Not two I would have thought to mix together, but it works out amazing. I can’t wait to continue this series.

Ariana has always had to be the best, to push herself to the top. So when the Drexian army decided to integrate humans into their training academy since they would be fighting together, they asked for Earth’s top pilot to be a flight instructor. Ariana has broken several glass ceilings in her day, but the ones on Earth are nothing compared to what she is facing. So when the first face she sees calls her cadet, she gives him a verbal slap down only to find out that he is her co instructor for the flight program. Now if only she can ignore the sparks that were between them to make sure she excels here and doesn’t lose everything she has worked so hard for.
Thank you to Literally Yours PR for the copy, all thoughts are my own.

This is book about Ariana. She is a human sent to work with Drexians. She meets the other flight instructor Volten. They have instant chemistry.
While this is happening they are trying together humans pass the maze which has been made harder than ever. Who wants the humans out, Commander Vyk? Zoran?
I love that there are multiple parts to this story!!

This story was fantastic. Legacy is the 1st book in the Warriors of the Drexian Academy series and was an engrossing sci-fi romance that had me captivated and I couldn't put it down.
The story takes place at the Drexian Academy located on another planet from Earth and follows
Volten, the Drexian Lieutenant flight instructor and Ariana the first Human pilot to teach at the Academy. Sparks flew from the moment these two met, and no matter how much they fought it, there was no denying that attraction.
This was a phenomenal start to the series. The story was well written, with a plot that was filled with suspense, and sabotage as all is not as it seems at the Academy, world building that was intricate and detailed and well liked characters that had me intrigued and I can't wait to learn more about them.
With unexpected twists, danger, witty dialogue, friendships, and a budding romance, there was never a dull moment and I enjoyed every aspect of the novel. The author also gives us a glimpse of what to expect in book two and I can't wait for it.
Whenever I read this author's work , I am never disappointed and this was again the case. This was a thrilling and action-packed story and I would highly recommend it to sci-fi lovers.

🔥 “I would kill a legion of monsters for you, but I would also die a thousand deaths for you.”

Ariana is incredible and I loved her so, so much! She’s a strong, resilient and courageous woman who knows her way around fighter jets remarkably well. And I loved her fierceness and defiance. Even more, I loved that she never hesitated to speak her mind or put anyone in their place when needed. Furthermore, Ariana comes from a long line of military heroes and has the constant need to prove herself. And she won’t accept help easily. Now, she has a new challenge to tackle - being the first human woman flight instructor in the Drexian Academy and everything is at stake.
Lieutenant Volten is one of the instructors in the Drexian Academy. He’s strong, fiercely protective, honorable, confident and quite the rule-follower. And I quite loved his dominant and possessive side, too. But his clan lacks status and for that he’s had to fight hard for everything in his life. Nevertheless, he’s proved himself to be a worthy and respected warrior. Volten is an incredible male and I couldn’t help but adore every single thing about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Ariana and Volten! From the moment they met, sparks flew between them. But working together and training the new academy’s cadets makes such an attraction quite forbidden. Nevertheless, those two were a great team and were so awesome together! I loved their banters, teasing and bickering. And I loved that both gave as good as they got. But each of them came with a past, their own struggles and challenges to overcome, too. Inside the secretive academy, they needed to rely on each other to overcome every challenge thrown their way. Sometimes the best way is to break some rules. And the more time they spent together, the more they couldn’t resist the undeniable pull towards each other. And when they finally gave into the need for one another, the passionate moments they shared were off-the-charts hot and I couldn’t get enough! Oh, those Drexians are irresistible! Volten and Ariana were so perfect for each other and, after everything both went through, they more than deserved to find happiness and love together!
In addition, the storyline was phenomenal! The dark walls of the Drexian Academy hide dangerous secrets and foes, resistant to change, are lurking in the shadows. And when deadly trials loom over the first-year cadets, trust and alliances become more important than ever. In addition, I really, really liked Kann, Fiona and Security Chief Vyk. And even Torq grew on me throughout the story. With everything happening and the unexpected turns of events, I was glued to the pages till the very end.
Overall, Legacy is a thrilling and action-packed story and a spectacular start of the series. It’s filled with danger, twists, humor, suspense, smoking-hot passion and magnificent characters.
I couldn’t put it down and absolutely loved every page of it!
