Can see this getting gifted many times. This book was as comfy as a yummy cup of tea , enjoyed wrapped in my favorite fuzzy blanket with my best cat snoozing by my side.

It was a lovely book filled with profound insights but I didn’t seem to find a cohesive storyline. Still, something I would read over and over for sure.

Beautiful connected art sketches illustrate a narrative of friendship and inspirational life lessons.

3.5 stars.

I'd heard about this from various sources, and the library copy looked stunning simply as art. The whole thing took less than 30 minutes to read, and even a child reader wouldn't have struggled to follow the text.

Universal as it is, it's a loose narrative of a boy making friends with three other creatures and the lessons they discover together.

Personally, the drawings made this for me. Stunning sketches of animals, often in what you'd call 'draft' form (where you can see the shapes making up the animal bodies), giving this a feel of an artist at work, of layers, of the hidden world of the artist.

The text itself didn't feel profound for me, or moving. It was a series of inspirational posters knitted together into something of a narrative. With moments of light relief with the slightly characterised Mole and his love of cake, the other characters felt like one and the same to me.

Left me a little bemused, though I can see why it moves others. And yes, I could have looked at the illustrations all day.

Maybe not for me, but if it stimulates and inspires others, I'm thrilled. For children and adults alike.
