Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance review copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
To be honest, this one wasn't for me. I didn't feel any connection between the two characters and the side characters felt very one-dimensional. I even found myself skipping through the spicy scenes (which weren't all that spicy) because they didn't have the connection and there was no tension.

Moderate: Murder, Medical content, Grief, Death, Fatphobia, and Child death

Trigger warnings: death, bombing, lying, violence, misgendering, kidnapping, shooting
This series came up a lot as recommended in connection to the other historical romances I've been reading. I love the angle of women scientists, it reminds me a lot of Veronica Speedwell. However, this book deviated from that series with the way the romance developed. I liked Violet and Arthur a lot, they were both really unique and interesting characters. I love how she rambles and how he tries to keep himself serious all the time and fails around her haha. However, I would've preferred a slower development to their feelings, and their physical intimacy. It went so quickly and so intense that it wasn't as fun to read. I also wish the female scientists would've been presented more seriously; a lot of their breakthroughs and experiments were downplayed and almost mocked. Though I'm excited to see more of the side characters that were presented. I didn't expect the way it ended at all and thought that was pretty unique too. I'm hoping the series improves as it goes on!
