I love love love that Kenna's playlist is at the end of the book
at first, i definitely thought the entire situation was f***ed (but when doesn’t ms. colleen make fucked up plots?) but i could not stop crying after getting past the “i left my boyfriend to die in a car wreck”. god, ms. hoover never fails to make me cry & cry & cry (i seriously could not stop)
definitely my fav coho book never had so many emotions in a book I love Kenna and ledger so much ughhh I literally don’t think I will ever stop thinking about this book
4.75/5. I love Colleen Hoover again and again. This one wasn’t as fast as a read and didn’t have as many twists and turns as her other books but was just constantly tugging on the heart.
this was cute. also. the first song on the playlist being about drinking at a party… ledger…. girl…
I’m in awe with this book and how fast I got attached to the story and its characters. Such a loving and heart-felt story omg. It generated so much anxiety for me at first when all of the plot was introduced but it was such and easy and fast read afterwards. All of the details shared by the author make sense, bringing pieces of a puzzle that completes at the end of the story. So many big feelings and backgrounds around the characters as well, even the secondary ones. I wouldn’t classify this book as a romance in the cliché way we all expect or are used to receive in books, but it still entails so so much love. I’m so happy this was my first Coleen read, looking forward to other of her books!
The best CoHo book!!! (Literally thought I was reading a book by another author)
The cutest couple and baby
The plot was so good - never over sharing information or dwelling on something
Characters actually developed and grew
And a nice little meaning behind the book

"Reminders of Him" by Colleen Hoover is a poignant and emotionally charged novel that delves into the complexities of forgiveness, redemption, and the enduring power of love. Hoover, known for her ability to craft deeply relatable characters and heart-wrenching stories, once again delivers a narrative that resonates long after the final page.
The story follows Kenna Rowan, a young woman who has just been released from prison after serving five years for a tragic mistake that changed the course of her life. Her primary goal is to reconnect with her daughter, Diem, whom she hasn’t seen since birth. However, the road to redemption is fraught with obstacles, as the people who have been caring for Diem, including Ledger Ward, are not ready to forgive Kenna for her past.
Hoover masterfully explores the themes of guilt, grief, and the struggle to move forward while being haunted by the past. Kenna’s journey is both heartbreaking and inspiring as she faces the harsh judgments of others and the overwhelming task of proving that she is not the person she once was. The tension between her desire for a fresh start and the lingering consequences of her actions creates a compelling narrative that keeps readers engaged.
One of the strengths of this novel is Hoover’s ability to write complex, flawed characters who are both relatable and deeply human. Kenna is a character who evokes sympathy, not because of her mistakes, but because of her determination to make things right. Ledger, on the other hand, represents the conflict between protecting a child and acknowledging a person’s capacity for change. The supporting characters, including Kenna’s mother and Diem’s guardians, add layers of emotional depth to the story, making it a rich exploration of human relationships.
The romance element in "Reminders of Him" is tender and understated, providing a sense of hope and healing amid the heavier themes. Hoover doesn’t rush the development of the relationship between Kenna and Ledger, allowing it to evolve naturally as they both come to terms with their pain and begin to understand each other’s perspectives.
However, the novel is not without its flaws. Some readers might find the resolution a bit too neat, given the intensity of the conflict throughout the story. Additionally, while Hoover’s prose is engaging, there are moments where the dialogue feels overly sentimental, which may not appeal to everyone.
Overall, "Reminders of Him" is a touching and thought-provoking novel that explores the messy, often painful process of seeking and granting forgiveness. Colleen Hoover has crafted a story that is sure to resonate with readers who enjoy emotionally driven narratives with a strong focus on character development. It’s a book that reminds us that while the past shapes us, it doesn’t have to define our future.

…I really wanted to hate this. My impression of CH novels from when I’d read them before was not good. I found this at the library and thought it would be a binge trash thing like Temptation Island but as a book. Maybe I’ve read worse books lately, and saw how bad Kindle Unlimited is, but this wasn’t bad at all. It only had one super corny line the whole time “he smells like limes and bad decisions” and I was invested in the plot. *sigh* I enjoyed it
