I've had an eye on this comic for some time, and finally I read the first issue, and it didn't disappoint me at all.
The story looks good, seems to be rather long, but worth it, since now I say. It develops gradually, apace, and leaves you wanting more. I'll take my time with this series because it really warrants it, looks to be a bit of everything and I LOVE that.
Isla (the s is mute) seems a striking character, I like what I've seen so far and I think we have good things in the future of this girl (referring to the plot, because her life itself seems to be about to get interesting for us/awful for her), it also intrigues me enough to know how will relate with Thorn in this new world
If the cover artist draw the entire comic book, it wuldn't hit me so much when I saw the first page. I was expecting something very stylized, delicate strokes and well worked colors, and it's not that they are not, but the styles are so different it bothered me at first. I do not know what happens in this industry they don't give comics a single image...
The story is quite original, I do not remember anything related to the Celtic gods, so I keep my high expectations and hope the series grow as it should. It has great potential, and its creators are aware of it.

I'm optimistic about this title. The premise is intriguing, and the main character passes the cursory female main character BS test. Despite the poorly (in my opinion) choice of cover art, which seems to be a low attempt by Vertigo to appeal to paranormal romance fans, the main character isn't bland with poor self-esteem, nor does the story seem like it'll focus on romance.

Oddly, this title seems aimed at mid-20s to mid-30s women, which is rare, as comic titles tend to be oriented more toward men or hipster college girl readers who grew up in the age of comic movies, though this seems to be changing with the popularity of titles like Saga, Sex Crims, Bitch Planet, and Monstress.

This issue shows that the premise of the series is fertile ground, since it combines the "Buffy" vibe with Scottish folklore and mystery, with emotional gravity added by the main character's search not only to figure out her weird drawing magic (unsubtely paralleling a coming-of-age/heritage-exploration story), but also the mystery of her sister's death.

While I don't find the drawings-come-to-magic thing as new and surprising as others, since I've seen it before (Naruto, Bakuman, and Imager Portfolio, just to name a few),this series seems like it'll put a new twist on things.

love the artwork but it seems to jolt a little at the end, could've done with a couple more pages before the ending
