The One That Got Away by Bethany Chase
This book I won from Library Thing and was happy to be able to read it. Love the different careers and very details what they do on a daily basis.
Enjoyed the reuniting with the Olympic swimmer and the path his career has taken him. They all meet up again in TX where Eannon hopes to get the local job teaching others how they can get into the Olympics.
Sarina is a great architect and although she is on her own, living with friends, she hopes to expand her jobs to make it in the big time.
Noah is her boyfriend lawyer but he travels a great deal of time and they hardly see one another. Danny is a gay male friend that Sarina lives with. He and Eannon were college buddies and they meet up and he spends the night, buys a local house and gives her the job to redo the house as he wants certain things in it.
She is getting pressured from her boyfriend and his family to get married and have kids-where she will no longer be working because she will be raising the kids. She's not so sure that what she wants in life...
Events occur that keep her from her boyfriend, she helps out Ean with his flu and her father is deathly sick that puts all her work on hold...
She is so confused about the men and her job and she puts her foot down to get things done... Enjoyed the read and there is an excerpt for Eannon's brother Colin in the next book with HIlary. Will g
I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Mindless chick lit book that I had for vacation. Funny, interesting main character. Great way to spend a few hours. I think everyone will fall in love with Eamon.

Fun, good-hearted, good-humored read. Got to know just enough detail and backstory about the characters to make you interested, without dragging down the plot's pacing. While not perfect in execution, I was definitely caught up in the storyline and invested with how things would turn out. Enjoyed the pops of humor, and even shed a few tears. Magic combination for a good book.

Every woman has one. That name you google at two o'clock in the morning. That intoxicating connection that somehow never solidified into anything real; that particular memory you still visit every now and then, for that guaranteed hit of pure, sugar packed dopamine. It's the story that starts with "There was this one time" and ends, reluctantly, with "but I guess..."

This is the opening line from The One That Got Away and right when I knew I was going to love this. I think a disservice has been done to this with all the Emily Giffin comparisons, it's better than anything ever written by Giffin. I am hesitant to call this chick lit, it has a more contemporary feel to me.

I'm biased since, as I've said before I love a mess of a main character so cleary I love Sarina.

My sense of connection to him had just been so immediate and effortless that I couldn't comprehend his not feeling the same way. Even though it became unmistakably obvious

Seriously, just read this, you will not be disappointed.

This was a painful read for me. I found myself skimming big chunks of the book because it just went on and on about mundane little details that did nothing to move the story along. It also was odd that the main character was supposed to be an architect but at times she seemed like more of an interior designer doing things like shopping for furniture and picking out paint colors. She also never actually designed any buildings, she just remodeled them. It was just odd. By the end of the book, I really didn't care about who she ended up with, I just wanted to be done with it so I could move on to another, hopefully better, book.

2.5 rounded up.

I really liked this until about the 70% mark. At that point, I had a hard time with Salina. Second chance romance is my favorite rom-com genre, and this falls into that category. However, when the drama is created because two characters don't communicate and don't share basic information, it's irritating. Salina came across well at the beginning, but the fact that she then either got in her head or turned into an idiot brought the book down for me.

It was predictable, but again, I can't stand when the conflict could have been avoided by a simple conversation or just talking to someone.

The One That Got Away is a story that every girl can relate to. This is a story about a love triangle with Sirana, Noah (her lawyer boyfriend) & Eamon (an Olympic swimmer). I can’t really go into any further details without spoilers. This is Bethany Chase’s debut novel and I think that she did an excellent job. I read the book fairly quickly and it had me hooked throughout reading. I loved all the characters from this book & the side characters were great as well. I particularly loved Sirana’s relationship with her stepfather, John and it was just very touching and emotiona. The story was well written and flowed effortlessly, which I am grateful for as I was in a reading slump. I will most likely continue to read any of Bethany Chase’s future novels.

Note: I received this book for free through Penguin’s First to Read for review

I'm teetering between 3 and 4 stars for this one, and I wonder if I would have given it 4 if I had read it the traditional way rather than in audiobook form, but regardless, I enjoyed it. A sexy romance years in the making, lots of great Austin references, and some serious sads that were handled much more realistically than they often are in romance books...a trifecta of good stuff for me!

I did enjoy this book. Ultimately, I gave it 3 stars and not 4 because the drama keeping the characters apart got a little tedious and seemed to be made up just to make the book longer. I picked the book because the male lead was a swimmer and I would have loved more swim talk in the book. There was a little at the beginning, but then it stopped. It was still enjoyable over all.
