I chanced upon this slim novella when I was perusing the shelves of my favourite bookstore, and I kid you not, I gasped so loud and hugged it, I was that excited. One of the books I always recommend to my friends is Mr Penumbra's 24-hour Bookstore, and finding this unexpected gem just made my day. Admittedly, I read it right there and then, and finished it in about 45 minutes. I would have bought it if I weren't broke and living off my mom's allowance, but it was a quick read, and a fascinating glimpse into the charming bookshop's previous customers and owners.

Bár előzménykötet, mégsem ajánlatos a Penumbra úr nonstop könyvesboltja előtt elolvasni.

A fun, quick prequel to the 24-hour bookstore. I enjoyed it!

This was really great - an excellent prequel to Mr. Penumbra's 24-hour Bookstore, which I highly recommend if you haven't already read it. That said, it wasn't clear to me that it was a novella, and I was very indignant when it ended so soon! I wanted more, but there was none to be had. The ending makes sense and is at a good point, but the world of these two books is so wonderful that I wanted more.

I think I liked this better than the novel. Fewer made-up locations in a city that is fantastical enough as she stands, and less unnecessary misogyny.

Good follow on to "Mr Penumbra's 24-hour Bookstore" but was quite short. Glad to get the background on the character, though.
