Well, over the years tastes change I guess... I had rated this series higher in my younger days. Not so much now.
The epitome of nonsensical, tangential, tounge-in-cheek humour, blended with science fiction and a lot of britishness. One of the books any self respecting literature enthusiast should read.
A thrilling, hilarious, intelligent, tongue-in-cheek romp through the universe. If you love British wit and science fiction, there's just no way you can neglect to read this series.
Hilariously witty. So many great scenes and concepts. The whimsical nature was a lot of fun and very different to my usual read.
Unfortunately for me (and it may have been reading all 4 parts as one book) I found at times that it was dragging and I was confused and did not enjoy those bits.

Four books in one. The first book was really a fun read and I enjoyed every bit of it (I would rate it 5/5). I felt that the level of humour and wit dropped in the subsequent books (level of humour is inversely proportional to the order of the books). By the last book I just wanted to finish it quick. Nonetheless, the entire series is a delight and I would recommend it to anyone (and thus an overall 4/5).

Persevered and finished it but not my cup of tea. Not entirely sure what it was about. Just rambles on and on

Finding it a really struggle to get through at the moment, I'm not sure as to exactly why. Just a lack of general engagement.
Maybe I'll revisit it in future.

I adore this book. It's one that I've read over and over and will probably be forever my favourite. It's a book for when you need an easy read with an entertaining and funny story.
