I found the main character a little annoying but it was interesting enough. I think I would read the next book if it fell on my lap but I don't know that I will seek it out.

I very rarely read graphic novels, but this is one I would read more of. I have to admit that Daphne -- a bi/pan Jewish woman -- wasn't necessarily the best protagonist I've ever read. She was rather bland, kind of like the typical 'I'm not like other girls' girl you see who takes on other people's personality traits and refuses to acknowledge her wealth or privilege. However, I did love her interactions with the ghosts and I feel like she's probably going to learn a lot about herself throughout the series.

The artwork, though... That's something else entirely. The colour palettes are gorgeous and I loved seeing the histories of some of the ghosts. Lots of LGBT rep in here which is a bonus! The ending was a little weak for me, although I can see some avenues that the story would take with it.

Ghosted in L.A. is the gives me the gorgeous, sun-washed bright pastels of my '80s Barbie coloring books. It absolutely drips California in the very best way. Every bit of this book is beautiful, and the illustrated title pages for each chapter/issue are an especially nice touch.

Story-wise, this is a comic book, not a graphic novel--it feels very serialized, and the reader only gets a little bit of character development, which isn't really how I prefer things, but I also understand. Our main character, the dreamy and rather-weak willed Daphne moves to California for college ostensibly, but also to be near her high school boyfriend. However, as the title implies, that doesn't really work out...neither does her angry goth roommate, who watches boys love anime nonstop or has people over for "Bible study." What does work out is a late night swim at an abandoned yet glamorous apartment complex. The variety of ghost friendships she makes at the apartments keep the comic going, and I am really curious to see how things work out with the guy who died recently. This is definitely a lot more plot/action than character-driven, which is a shame because Ghosted is so short., and a lot of narratives are introduced without much progress. There are certainly a few secrets that I'm eager to see uncovered, so I'll check out volume 2 for sure.

This story brings a whole new meaning to the term "Ghosted". I love getting to know all of the side characters, but hopefully, we will get more main character development in the upcoming issues. I will definitely continue reading this series as it comes out.

Ahhhhh! THIS GRAPHIC NOVEL WAS SO ADORABLE OMGGGGG! Okay, so I don’t normally read graphic novels. They just aren’t really my thing, I guess? But I am SO GLAD I ended up requesting this one from Netgalley. I loved it!

The story follows Daphne, who moved to LA with her boyfriend. Only to be dumped. She is wandering around LA one night, and comes across this beautiful house. The only downside is it is filled with ghosts. THey agree to let her live there, as long as she brings no other humans to the house. Of course, things go awry!

I loved seeing all the backstories of the ghosts that live in the home. We only saw three in the first collection, but they were so interesting! It was a perfect mix of past and present.

The art in this book is amazing! I love the illustrations and coloring. It really brought the story to life. When I read graphic novels, I usually just focus on the words and skim over the pictures, but this one I found myself gazing at the art and how great it was! Plus, Daphne had THE BEST style. Like, I want her closet for myself. I was drooling over those outfits!

I would recommend Ghosted in LA to anyone who loves a fun contemporary. I would usually pass since it’s a graphic novel, but I am SO GLAD I didn’t! I can’t wait for Volume 2!

e-ARC received from NetGalley. The premise sounded super interesting and the art was decent, but I felt like Daphne (the main character) and the story were just random and a little all over the place at times. One character turns out to be gay, which almost seemed like it was thrown in as a shock factor, but other than bonding with a ghost who was also gay, it didn’t really add anything to the reading experience or plot.
