I loved this book and sad to see so many people hate it. My best guess is a lot of folks wanted a beach read with little to no world building. The book is more of a hardcore fantasy with a solid foundation through world building and, what I thought was the best part, going into the intricacies of political and social issues. That made the baseline story even better for me, but sadly it seems that was lost on others. I suppose it’s a book for fantasy lovers and not someone looking for a light read.

So surprised to see how many people hate this book and that it's on the "worst books of all time" list. Then again, every single Twilight book is on the "best books of all times list" so I'm not sure exactly how accurate this is.

A few people seem to have seen the play before reading the book and judged it based on that.

Personally, I love this book and have read it numerous times. It's a great story with imaginative characters. The world it creates is wonderful and its a great book for adults and teens who love fictional worlds.
