Shuzo Oshimi's fifth volume is more captivating than the fourth and includes even more horror and gore - yet it's still an addictive read!
The character development in this volume is outstanding. Makoto's struggles with his vampiric nature and emotional trauma continue to be explored in depth, but the supporting characters also get more attention and development in this volume. Nora, in particular, becomes a much more complex and fascinating character, with her own emotional baggage and struggles that are brought to the forefront. The dynamic between Makoto and Nora is also fleshed out in greater detail, making for a highly engaging and emotionally resonant storyline.
There are lots of twists and turns in this volume's plot. As the story unfolds, Oshimi's mastery of suspense and pacing is evident, keeping readers on the edge. A nuanced and captivating plot is driven forward by emotional conflicts and character motivations.
I was captivated by Oshimi's artwork in this volume - it was his most impressive yet. The use of shadows and contrasts is particularly effective, and the character designs are highly detailed and expressive. The horror elements in this volume are also more intense and graphic, adding to the overall sense of danger and unease that permeates the story.
Personally, I enjoyed this book in the series the most - the plot is truly thrilling, terrifying and stomach-churning, but I had to read the entire book in one sitting, because it was that addictive!

This one had some serious stuff go down. It's gotten eery and unpredictable with some real consequences. The time skip was a bit jarring.
