I've read the Scarpetta series since I was a teen, often reading them after my parent, but Cornwell seems to be losing her magic a bit, headed down a very technical sci-fi route... I enjoyed this more for what I hold onto it in terms of how long I feel I have followed Scarpetta for, rather than for the story.
