I read this book when my sister was born (and soon passed on) and we spent endless days at the hospital. For some reason I've always remembered it, and apparently it had some sort of impact on me. Going to put it on hold and read it again.

From our permanent collection of children's books. This book just captures something perfect - the whole concept of super-indelible-never-come-off-till-you're-dead-and-maybe-even-later colouring markers. The writing is funny, the artwork is brilliant. And the books teaches without teaching. And it is both silly and surreal and short. The voice of the mom and daughter are just perfect and dad just mostly naps. And walks in the rain.

A fun book about Brigid who really wants a set of colouring markers and promises not to draw on herself but ends up covering her entire body in permanent ink. While I enjoyed the story, I didn't quite like how things ended - Brigid never suffered any consequences and pretty much got away with it scot-free.

One of my favorite books as a child. It was cute and funny and pretty original. Still one of my favorite children's books to this day!

When I visited my three old niece for a week she made me read this to her every day at least three times each day and I had no complaints because it is my absolute favourite.

I love the bit where the mother exclaims that the girl has 'ruined her life'. It's such a good example of how parents are inclined to catastrophise things our kids do.

The whole thing is very fun to read.
