I would give a higher rating, but I had such difficulties reading the middle part before the tension was solved. Too much misery is about to happen and you know it.

I have to say I like the two stories intertwined, and always looked forward to Charlie’s parts. Not that it was better written, but really to relax a little.

The author’s notes are really good and add an extra dimension  to the book.

Historical fiction is usually not my bag, but I loved this book. I listened to the audio book and enjoyed so much the story about two women working through anger, pain, and responsibility for war. Great catharsis and a little bit of romance. Obviously, this book deals with some heavy topics so watch out!

The Alice Network is told through 2 POVs: Eve's and Charlie's. When reading reviews of this book I noticed a great number of people stating they preferred Eve's and, after having read it, I would 100% agree. In fact, Charlie could have been removed from the story and not much would have changed. Personally, I don't find her character added much, I don't see what her purpose in the grand scheme of things was. Adding to that, her part of the story was too predictable. Within her first few chapters, if not the first, you can guess how things are going to end for her and her part of the plot. At last, I just want to make a little comment on how unnecessary the romance was; the need people feel of adding romance to every single thing  (not just books) is annoying.

A historical fiction novel that spans across World War 1 and just after World War 2. The story is told from 2 different perspectives. One focuses on experiences during World War 1, and the other is set during “modern day” (1947 for the this book).
