Really loved this and the entire Dublin Murder Squad series. Other reviews state that Tana French can't "stick the landing" with her endings - I would clarify that unlike some of her previous works, there is little ambiguity here in terms if what happened, who did it, etc. That said, when the last two chapters are essentially the murderer stating why and how the crime was committed in full exposition, it feels a bit cheap and hence the 4/5 instead of a full five star review. Aside from that, its a home run and I will eagerly await the next in the series.

By far my favorite book in the series so far. Tana French is a master at crime novels! The clues are there but there are also the distractors which seem so important, if not the key to the solution, when they really aren't. I couldn't put this book down, I loved it. The characters were great, the crime mind boggling and horrible, and while I wanted so badly to know the solution I didn't want it to end.
Tana French just gets better and better! Who would have thought that Scorcher Kennedy would turn out to be such a likeable protagonist. I listened to the audio version of this book and Stephen Hogan was the perfect narrator. Hated for it to come to an end!
I feel like I need to lie down in a dark room for a few days just to process the weight of this book. Holy actual shit, y'all.
It took me a while to get into this book but....... damn. My mind is torn up over this. I spent the past few hours just blazing through the last half of the book, because I just couldn't put it down, and when that twist hit...... damn. DAMN. Tana French pulls this shit off better than anybody else (I can't believe she made me feel bad for Scorcher, of all people). This one isn't my favorite in the series (that title goes to The Trespasser) but man, it was a good one..... I need a minute.

took a very dark turn. some of the plot points weren’t very well developed as well as the character arc of Richie. but overall a pretty good mystery

Like all of her other books, Tana French sucked me in from the beginning. But I think this one is my least favorite of the four. Without spoiling anything the reasons behind the crime that finally came to light did not ring true to me. While her stories are sometimes far fetched (the Likeness), I just didn't buy the killer would have done this for the stated reasons.
