i feel like Tana French's books are falling into a Star Trek movie pattern, except where the odd # books are better than the evens. this was still pretty great, psychologically messed up and gripping, and still better than her 2nd book, The Likeness. but In the Woods and Faithful Place still stand up better in my estimation.
Another gripping tale from Dublin Squad. Flawed characters so convincing. Personal lives and motivations of detectives criss-crossing with family murder investigation during Irish recession. Really "Good Read"
Heads up for heavy subject matter, and it’s worth specifically mentioning a trigger warning for mental illness.

I liked this one much more on my second read. Tragic, baffling, and probably my third favorite in this series behind In the Woods and The Likeness.
French Dublin Murder Squad books are endlessly absorbing: twisted and dark and filled with a real sense of dread. This book dragged in sections but will was still strong.
