Graphic: Trafficking
Cryptocurrency is even more ridiculous than I previously imagined it could be.
A fast read and easy to navigate for the uninitiated. Crypto world explained, with anecdotes about the debauchery and criminal underpinnings.

Very interesting and engaging. Had no idea about a lot of this stuff—the pig butchering scams being particularly disturbing.
I thought I wanted to learn more about Crypto but as it turns out, I just don’t care about the subject.

This is the book that I wanted while reading Easy Money. This is a very well-researched and well-written deep dive into all of the awful, scammy, terrible, and downright idiotic bullshit that Crypto is and creates. A couple of takeaways:
1. Y'all remember NFTs? Jesus they are the dumbest thing that has maybe ever been "invented".
2. SBF is clearly neuro-divergent to a fairly extreme degree but I feel that none of the writing on him ever tackles that. Whenever I read anything about him, whether fawning by Michael Lewis or takedowns by Ben McKenzie, the fact that he is so clearly neuro-divergent is so evident to me and is a pretty obvious explainer for all of his "non-typical" behavior. All the fawning basically boils down to the fact that none of these writers have ever met a "successful" and rich autistic person before, at least a non-masking one. It in no way excuses his many crimes but I find it fascinating that it is never talked about.
3. To continue with SBF, he's a con-man. He's literally just a grifter and I can't stand these narratives that try to paint him as anything other than that. Zeke does a much better job than others at portraying this but even he is guilty of attempting to, at least partially, absolve SBF of his crimes. SBF is just a con-man, no better than Madoff, and there is no reason to treat him as anything other than a grifter who got caught.
4. Crypto is so fucking stupid. I think that's the thing that really bothers me about the entire craze. It's just so, on it's face, not even trying to hide it, dumb. All securities/commodities investing is just gambling and all high-powered "investors" are just gambling addicts with too much money but crypto is just gambling to an absurd degree. It has no actual use case, it's been proven to be a scam over and over and over again, and it's built on the sandiest foundation possible. And yet people keep falling for it . . .
