i don’t even know where to start. first of all, you can tell how much nora’s writing has improved compared to neil’s trilogy, which makes sense, considering how many years have passed.
this book was phenomenal. i never wanted to put it down, and I couldn’t think about anything else for the rest of the day. jean’s healing journey feels so raw and real, i could literally feel every emotion through the pages. my heart clenched so many times for him, that boy truly has a heart of gold, but it was shattered by what the ravens did to him. now he’s finally starting to piece himself back together, little by little, and finding his way back to who he truly is. and trojans will be there to help.
the tension between jeremy and jean is insane. god i was on the edge of my seat every time they shared a scene. i love how they’re always there for each other, patient, protective, and never pushing. jeremy is exactly what jean needs in his life: someone who will show him what being loved feels like.
the friendship dynamic between jean, jeremy, cat, and laila was one of my favorite parts. always looking out for each other, giving jean someone to call “family”. when their apartment burned down, i was genuinely upset, it was their home, the place where jean was finally starting to feel safe. seeing how much laila and cat were suffering broke my heart.
but they finally got a doggy now!!! seeing jeremy so happy about it warmed my soul, especially with the all shit he has going on at home. i just know jean is going to grow attached their new pet since they connected from the very first moment they locked eyes.
i need the third book like i need air
