I wasn't about to give this a four, up until the final poem. It was for his wife, who had passed away. And it was beautiful.

Nova
...
Are You hiding, God?
Are You hiding in the rain?
Are you hiding?

I am here

I am here in every song you sing
In the wings of a rising lark
Through the darkness to the morning light.
I am present in everything

...

I am here as every flake of snow
Washes white on the countryside.
As each green blade stretches for the sun.
I am here watching over them.

...

I know it's about a relationship to God, but in my interpretation it is also about loss. Hoping and praying that the people you have loved and lost are still in the world somehow. Not as themselves necessarily, but as a presence that remains to make sure that you're okay. That the grass grows, and the rains fall, and the stars shine.

The typical, whimsical song lyrics and words from McCartney. Interesting to read his poetry with a mix of his well known songs.

Fun to read. I couldn’t make sense of all the pieces but overall I had a good time. My favorite part was definitely the last. I wish there were more of those poems.

“And if I say I really loved you
And was glad you came along,
Then you were here today
For you were in my song
Here today.”
