Gosh was this book so great I was in and out of love of it a few times but honestly it was perfect. Bracken always knows how to write the best characters and idk how she managed to make me fall in love in just one book but she did and it was glorious and beautiful and violent and so much greekness that my little Greek geek heart almost exploded. Such a darn good book. Yassssss

Lore had such a fascinating premise, and I really enjoyed the way Bracken wove Greek mythology into a modern setting. The writing style was strong, and there were moments where the worldbuilding and action pulled me right in.

That said, I also found myself confused at times. The pacing and information delivery didn’t always feel smooth, which made parts of the story harder to follow. Lore as a main character didn’t fully work for me; she came across as a bit of a Mary Sue, which took away some of the tension.

And while I don’t usually nitpick relationships, I struggled with how the women’s dynamics were portrayed. It felt like betrayal was the only theme between female characters, while the male relationships were allowed more loyalty and nuance. It left me disappointed, especially since the concept had so much potential for powerful female bonds.

Overall, I’d call this a good but imperfect read.  An interesting  concept and engaging writing, but weighed down by uneven execution.

As a mythology lover and someone who was obsessed with the hunger games in their teens I thought this would be one of my favourite reads. However, I have been reading this book since september and only finished it because I read it as a buddy read. The story took over 200 pages before something interesting happened. Aside from that I thought the ending was predictable and towards the end some parts just felt super cliché and unnecessarily sappy.

I have to admit the middle part contained some cool plottwists I did not see coming and I absolutely adored the side characters and throwbacks.

The book was overall well written and I am sure there are people out there who love it, it just wasn’t for me.

Before reading this book I would recommend you to have at least some prior knowledge of greek mythology, as there is no explanation on the abilities of the gods and what they stand for.

I can't wait to read what's next!

I really love Greek mythology and YA so this should have been impeccable but I have mixed feelings about it.

It was very convoluted in places and often I just had no idea what was going on. However, the writing is brilliant and the characters are great (I loveeeee Miles). I love the world building (when I could make sense of it). But it was annoying because I got bored at like 80% in and just skipped through the rest. The ending was also…insanely anticlimactic.

I’m torn, to be honest.
