Take a photo of a barcode or cover
This was of course a book that I have read as a child and now reread as an adult and I definitely have a different opinion on it.
Mainly, I thought about how upset I would be if I ever found out!
However, enjoyable and silly for children.

Dahl has some fantastic books, and then there is this book....
I know most of his books have a moral of shorts and this ones should be, “Be careful what you wish for.” In this case when you wish your tortoise would get bigger, what you will get instead is your upstairs neighbour, (who secretly loves you), to lie to you, steal your beloved pet of 11 years, swap him out for slightly bigger tortoises over several weeks, and then when you believe he magically has made your tortoise grow, he won’t tell you the truth. Instead he will convince you to marry him, sell your pet back to a pet store, and let you keep believing that the imposter is your original tortoise that you’ve had for 11 years but aren’t smart enough to realize it’s been replaced.
This books has problems, lots of them! I recommend you read Dahl’s other works and give this one a miss.

Really enjoyed it. It really satisfying to finish a book in one go.

Some needed literary distraction after reading Math and teaching books. It fit the bill perfectly - quirky but adorable characters and solutions to problems that you normally wouldn't think are ok... but then they are, because why not?
This is the story of a man DECEIVING and MANIPULATING a woman to get her trust and affection. Truly troubling! He’s rewarded for duping her and taking the thing she loves most from her! Yikes!
Read while waiting for late field trip school bus. A nice love story!
