This book just wasn’t for me. Read for book club I was really excited to read something that’s so far out of the realm of my comfort zone I didn’t know what to expect.

I found myself enjoying a book of short stories and these were…interesting.

Thinking on this book, I wonder if any knowledge of Korean history, folklore or parables would have made me understand and appreciate this more.

"Cursed Bunny" was such an intresting collection of horror short stories, most of them having recurring themes such the injustice of patriarchy, the efects of capitalism and greed, women fighting an injust system.

My favorite short story was actualy a Fantasy story, "Ruler of the Winds and Sands".  5 stars
I also loved "Home, Sweet Home" and "Reunion".  4 5 stars
The titular short story together with "The Snare" and "Goodby, My Love" were impressive as well. 4 stars

3 1/2 stars.

I don't doubt that this is a very good book, but I personally found most of these stories to be lacking substance. I'm not sure if it's because things were lost in translation, or because the stories are simply very small slices of strange lives.
The story that truly captivated me, however, the one 5 star story, was Renunion, the last one. That one was a clear winner for me.

I'll rank each short story here:
The Head: 2 stars. Somewhat bizzare, but still boringly predictable.
The Embodiment: 2 stars. That might be on me, childbirth horror is rarely interesting to me. The surrealism of it fell flat for me as well.
Cursed Bunny: 3 stars. Solid, but not very outstanding.
The Frozen Finger: 3 stars. Solid piece of short horror, but a little predictable. The ending was a nice touch.
Snare: 4 stars. One of the very fairytale-esque short stories. I enjoyed it quite a bit.
Goodbye, My Love: 2 1/2 stars. Feels like it got cut off before it could really start.
Scars: 3 1/2 stars. Another story that felt very much like a fairytale.
Home Sweet Home: 3 1/2 stars. A bit jumbled. Sometimes I felt uncertain with where the story wanted to go.
Ruler of the Winds and Sands: 3 1/2 stars. Maybe I just like fairytales, because apart from the imagery this one didn't stand out much. The prince's characterization made no sense to me.
Reunion: 5 stars. My clear favorite.

All in all, it felt like the stories got stronger towards the end.
