The pacing and tension of this book are very interesting. I enjoyed the read and think it’s some of Vandermeers’ best work

It was fast paced but not at the same time hard to describe
It was a trip in the best way, even if I had no idea what was going on most of the time. With Jeff Vandermeer, you're just kind of along for the ride and honestly I'm here for it.

3.5 stars. A strange mystery tale. It didn't really feel much of a thriller, despite the inimitable threat and violence. Slow paced, but you are dragged along by the mystery anyway.
Vandermeer for Christmas, what a fun tradition. This was a little less weird than [b:Dead Astronauts|37589179|Dead Astronauts (Borne, #2)|Jeff VanderMeer|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1569673345l/37589179._SY75_.jpg|73543685], which made it a more manageable read. Enjoyed immensely, a thriller but with a nice ecological twist.
I don't know what to think of this book. On the one hand it was an intruiging mystery with a message I wholeheartedly approve of and interesting characters and superb 1st person narration. But on the other it felt soo.... unbelievable for someone to just give up their lives like that, and endanger it (and others too), for someone they had never met and a goal they didn't understand. So yeah, I don't know. I'll leave it in the middle.
Didn't like the prose or the way the story was being unveiled
