Great book, Beard really lays put the first millennia of Rome well. She is critical of all sources and analyses the histories from micro to macro views. Highly recommend for anyone looking to gain knowledge of Rome.

shockingly bingeable i've got to read more mary beard. my main takeaway being that cicero IS the main character and if you told all of rome that his works would live on for two millennia he'd get mobbed with a smile on his face.
