honestly I can't decide which character had it worse. Thiago had to see his wife not remember him. Vi had to live with someone horrible enough to erase her memory of her hubby. This was a great version of the book. I cannot wait to read the continuation.

I’d give it 3.5 stars.
Bec always manage to lure me into whatever new world she’s created. I’ve read several series of hers and maybe because of the cover or the synopsis, I wasn’t expecting much going into it. I was pleasantly surprised. I adore Vi and Thiago together. There was some repetition of phrases or descriptions that would knock it a half star from 4 but it was a good read and I immediately purchased the other 2 books in the series halfway through. I don’t often read books that are Fae related but I definitely liked this one. I also love the fact that she’s following the same couple instead of changing it every book which detracts from her other series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. I'm saving my comments for our buddy read discussion.

Solid 4 stars, if not more. Obviously heavily inspired by ACOTAR with some similarities that are a little too close for comfort, but honestly I prefer this so far. Vi and Thiago appeal to me much more and their dynamic was to die for (as soon as I figured it out I was in love bc I'm easy like that). My biggest gripe apart from the similarities with ACOTAR was the world-building which to me feels a little shaky. Overall I'm eager to continue the series!

It was okaaay. Rather predictable though which made it boring and had me skimming the majority of the second half of the book.

"Promise of Darkness" is a great fantasy romance. There were so many things included in this book that really scratched an itch in my brain. I loved the world and the politics. I really enjoyed all the characters and how different they were from each other. I really liked the romance aspect; it was phenomenal. And the big twist is not what I expected but I very much did enjoy it

It started off strong and I was so ready to love this, because I really enjoyed this author’s other series. but I saw everything that was going to happen coming way in advance and it just kind of got boring… the romance was more angsty than sizzling and I just couldn’t get invested. Not a bad book but not great. Probably won’t read the rest of the series.
