Cute closed door romance, with a mystery woven through. I liked the relationship between the main characters, he seemed like a sweet guy and she was very genuine. It was a good listen with some interesting twists and an insight into Hollywood.

Hi God, it’s me again. I’d like to request a Griffin of mine too!
I loved this book. There is a particular sort of intimacy that features in most of Kelly’s books I’ve read so far, that I find absolutely endearing. The way Lana and Griffin’s story unfolded is so realistic and beautifully portrayed. Even though the setting and plot was a little outlandish and larger than life, at the core, the characters remained human and simple, just trying to figure out life in an imperfect world.
While the general picture painted of Hollywood in this book is more rosy than realistic, it sort of faded to the background for me. Because for me the standout was the relationships and internal struggles of the characters. I can relate heavily to Griffin’s trust issues, even though I am no Hollywood starlet. Even him trying to emulate the heroes he plays on screen in real life feels so relatable (aren’t we all trying to be the main characters and heroes of our stories?). Similarly, Lana’s feelings about being a freak in an unfamiliar, fast paced world also felt close to home, especially as a new adult myself. Because these struggles are human, and we all are ultimately, Hollywood star, ordinary librarian or otherwise, just humans.
Deep existential musings aside, I just liked the vibes of the book. The dramatic mysteries, the over the top characters, the interesting conversations and spicy banter (I swooned and giggled every time Griffin flirted because GODDAMN). The ending was a nice tie-in of all the plotlines, although the plot armour was strong with this one. I wish there is more from this universe, because I quite like this bunch of characters.

Excellent narration and story,. I took off one star for being a bit too long/dragging (some chapters in the last 1/3 of the book).
