3.5 ⭐️ — I chose this book randomly without reading the synopsis, so I did not expect for it to be a generational story with multiple perspectives. It was t tragedy after tragedy. It was definitely slow, but I learned a lot of history when Japan occupied Korea. There were some storylines of characters I did not care for. Nothing wowed me. I didn’t really get a strong emotional response for these characters as I do for other books. It was an overall sad book, and it was pretty hard to get through, but the writing is elegant.

This was quite an interesting read about a time period I did not know much about. I was very engaged with the story and the characters but towards the end it dragged a bit. I think there was a bit more potential for Solomon's, Noa's and Hana's story.
