My thoughts are all over the place, much like this book was. I like the individual POV stories. I like how they tied together in the end. I didn't like how they were woven throughout the book, if that makes sense. It felt clunky and didn't flow seamlessly enough for me.

I like the realm of Mytica. I'm familiar with it from the main series. I wanted to see more with Valoria. And we didn't even get to see Cleiona. I assume she will be in the second book? The present-day stuff was interesting. I think Markus isn't who he says he is; I have an idea who he might be. It just felt so awkward jumping between worlds, even with Becca as the bridge to get us there.

Still invested. Gonna read the next one.

Rhodes has done it again. This book is a definite must read. It has a splash of everything that makes it one hell of a good read.

I literally couldn't stop until i was through.

I can't wait for book two.

This was an excellent blending of modern day and ancient Mytica, the Falling Kingdoms world. The multiple perspectives in this book were wonderful, especially Maddox's chapters. Morgan Rhodes did an outstanding job at combining contemporary and fantasy and I look forward to the rest of the books in this spinoff series.

It started out slow, but then it got more interesting. Not as good as Falling Kingdoms.

Why Morgan Rhodes
Why

While I have to say that sometimes Morgan's writing can come off as a bit cheesy, everything else in her books is so amazing and sophisticated that I literally do not care. I also wish to say that while I would love to say I guessed all the plot twists, I really didn't.
And I need the next book

*Maddox and Becca fo life*

Started off a little slow but well worth the read. Going to have to run out and get the next one because I finished this in a day. Wish the characters were a little older but loved it otherwise.

Liked this, but it didn't wow me. However, that might be because I'm not big on urban fantasy! Still, I'm excited to see where this series goes!

I love books with secret societies!

A Book of Spirits and Thieves is by no means the Falling Kingdoms. I really liked reading it, just to be in that world again, but it doesn't beat the main series. Though I enjoyed how modern it was, especially the fact that it took place half in Toronto. It was refreshing to see my country portrayed in literature for once :(.

There were a lot of parallels between the series, like Maddox is Jonas, Farell is Magnus. The girls, Crystal and Becca are a lot more original. I can admit, I saw some things coming and others I didn't. The only critique I have is the lack of diversity, Falling Kingdoms had diverse races (I chose to see it that way unlike some people) and multiple sexualities. I know it's only the first book but everyone is heterosexual white like come on.

The Falling Kingdoms are one of my favourite book series of all time, we'll see if Spirits and Thieves can reach that level.

*Also now that I have found out book 3 in this series is a no go, what's the point of reading it. I still will, most likely only to find a cliffhanger at the end of the next book.
