Interesting read. It is outdated in some areas, but it was fascinating to read about theories and/or stories from 1977 that have since been accepted or denied. For example, Sagan tells the story of Kekule and his dancing 6-Carbon snake dream, which we now know was just a prank pulled by Kekule to make his discovery of the structure of Benzene a bit more humorous and alluring.
5 stars for a great read of its time!

Outdated these days

At least the edition I had was severely outdated by now. I'm also not a big fan of the writing style.

The evolution of the brain/history of mind/ consciousness/ intelligence stuff from another hero of mine. Written in 1977, so a little dated in the field, but Carl draws from a variety of disciplines and grounded in logic. He is always pleasure to read.

literally, it blows my mind, great speculations indeed.

Dad’s choice for Kundrik book club.
