Anthony is a great storyteller, but this book felt a bit jaded and bitter. I love listening to him narrate but his voice sounded like he needed a hug and considering what happened...

Listening to this years after his death, the chapters about his daughter and him being a dad are pretty sad & hard to get through :(

Will return to this eventually, but I really can’t listen to anybody talk about killing, preparing, and eating animals rn

Sadly not as enjoyable as the original book. For all that I'd read about Bourdain, I'd have thought that he was more open minded. At least when he published this book in 2010 it wasn't so. The book feels dated and he whinges about his pet peeves way too much. This time though, it's oftentimes libertarian and/or centrist (yeah, weird mix) jibber jabber.

The one thing that is beautiful is his descriptions of food and the travel guide side of the book. Really only thing that saves the book from 2 stars

As someone who loved Anthony bourdain as a kid, and would stay up to watch his tv programs on cnn to to see the world the way he did, this was a real treat. As I kid I never realized bourdain sort of got his big break from writing and not cooking. He was hilarious, poignant and the sense of wonder he gave me as I kid he still gave me as an author. Sad to remember he’s no longer with us, but this gave a glimpse into maybe why when I couldn’t convince of it when I was younger.

It is awesome to hear Bourdain's voice in my ear, but this book had a few too many rants in it. Needed tighter editing.
