This was such a fun read! It was my first Fredrik Backman book and I was delighted to discover how quirky this was.
The book was described as a "poignant comedy about a crime that never happened" so I assumed it would be a character driven story. But the book still reads like a mystery - the plot unfolding with just enough information to keep you guessing but never quite enough.
There were twists and turns, and it kept me on my toes. The writing style is a bit of an acquired taste, but I flew through the pages once I understood the tone of the book. An uplifting, easy read.

Loved it. Loved the character studies, the playful writing style, the feels and the spotlight into all the ways anxiety can present itself.
I want to read it again almost right away to see all of the connections with a new perspective.
My first book by Backman but I think I will be looking for more.
**Edit** I re-read just a month later. 2nd time through was just as good if not better. Read 2 more of Backman's books and like this one the best.

Almost gave up as some of the characters were irritating at times and there was some unnecessary jokes/side bars that didn’t add to the story and made it drone on a bit. However I’m glad I stuck with it. A truly beautiful ending that is very satisfying and heart warming. A great story about understanding each other and our complexities
