This book was emotional and insightful. I found such a love for the characters throughout the story of their lives. However, at times.. I did lose track of who was who in the family… (not including the main characters) as there are a lot of characters to keep track of.. I also was disappointed because of some loose ends that were never fully explained.
Overall, a very beautiful and deep read.

Book on intergenerational trauma/ family dynamics. Perspective of 4 Métis family members - phoenix (daughter of Elsie), cedar-sage(daughter of Elsie) , Elsie (daughter of Margaret) and Margaret.

Great representation of how different family members respond to trauma (addiction, violence, crime, people pleasing and go getting). A sad but very real book.

Excellent second book. Less graphic than the first but just as powerful. Told a whole story through 4 generations about life, challenges, realities of growing up Métis in Winnipeg. Highly recommend
