After I suffered a major bookhangover thanks to Chain of Gold, I wasn't able to say goodbye to the Shadow World and realized I still hadn't read the third TMI graphic novel.

I liked the style here way more than in the previous two. I didn't like the design of Izzy for example, and I think Cassandra Jean did a better job here with Izzy and Simon.

Sadly, the reason why I am not giving this 5 stars, is because there are many scenes left out. I know you cannot draw City of Ashes completely, but there are many scenes missing. City of Ashes isn't really one of my faves, but my few favourite scenes were not included here ;-;

Nevertheless, I am happy to have read this book. It always feels like coming home whenever I read something about the Shadow World.

I absolutely love the art by Cassandra Jean, it’s perfect for the mortal instruments graphic novels. As for the story, bc it’s a graphic novel there is so much they have to cut out but I don’t mind. I think they just get to the point and skip past all the little details. I enjoy watching the characters and stories come to life, to have see what certain scenes look like when drawn. Also my babies Alec and Magnus, the highlight of these books for me honestly. I believe the graphic novels are a good refresher of the main books. Like if you ever need to remember what happened this is a good way to get a quick reminder. But anyways, it was fine. I don’t know how much these would stand on their own if you hadn’t read the original books first. But, I’m mostly reading for the art and seeing it adapted in some form.

 I am really enjoying these graphic novels! I was going to reread the books soon, and I was pleasantly surprised to find another way to intake the story. The art is lacking in detail, but in a very artistically chosen way. It's not my favorite, but it's obvious that it is some ones

Ah, CoA, we meet again. Ugh. I love this series so much, but this is THE WORST part of it. Everything sucks, and I just want to skip to when things stop sucking so much. (Meanwhile, Cassandra Jean’s artwork is fabulous, and I’m so glad she included more stuff using the Language of Flowers.)

The layout of these graphic novels doesn't flow very well. And there's a lot of exposition and words to read. I found a grammatical error in chapter 14 when Clary says “Where are you parent anyway?” The story is true to the first half of the second book, when Clary and her new friends visit the seelie court.
