page powars i am coming for you the same way you’re coming for the people in your end of book acknowledgements
this was BEAUTIFUL. exquisite, gorgeous, lovely, magnificent, and every other synonym for beautiful my 2am brain can come up with while my face is soaked in tears. charlie was the sweetest, kindest bean and i related so heavily to him. existence is hard, dude. but he found his people who helped him shoulder the burden and they loved him SO fiercely. seriously the sweetest little found family i have ever seen, i want to be a part of it. and sweet, sweet jasper—in love with charlie and not knowing how to handle it at all, doing all the things that made charlie the most uncomfortable and somehow turning that all around to get the guy anyway. my heart ACHED for him, and i was screaming at charlie to give both himself and jasper a chance, knowing what happiness waited for them both when he did 🥹
“love is never not scary. it’s a matter of whether you’re enjoying that fear.”
okay, gonna go sob into my pillow now, charlie and jasper and delilah and xavier and blaze and robby have my heart forever, bye 🫶

I’m not the target audience for this BUT I love reading queer YA so I wanted to give it a shot. It was very fluffy and some of the representation didn’t feel entirely authentic BUT it was also a pretty silly and unbelievable slice of the world this story lived in. I would definitely recommend this to others even though it wasn’t my perfect read.

This whole thing was Too Much in a bad way. The love interest was especially heinous. I tried valiantly but yeesh.

3.75 - rlly cute, “what you’re blaming yourself for sounds like your straight up existence, Charlie, and we’re not gonna hear that” destroyed me
Some of the resolutions felt very one dimensional - like the teacher saying his analysis was better than anything the professors could come up with. A lot of it just felt very convenient. But also this is a book where you have to suspend reality on some levels - tropes, famous at like 15 years old, etc - so I think that was just part of it and made for a very good, summed up ending(loved the spiders).
Also rather predictable but I think that comes with the tropes.
My 12am thoughts lol, but rlly if ur looking for a more lighthearted no spice romcom, this is it
