I enjoyed the latter half way more than the first, but I still think there could have been a better approach with the pacing. Cute man sila jud, but makalagot ang first half ky very tell not show and pet peeve jd nako na siya sa libro mabwesit jd ko. I enjoyed this more kay at least nag isturya ang mga tawo and dili lang jd mga stand in ang mga friends/side characters nila, albeit I would have enjoyed more involvement nila. Very tropey and very "current" ang language na gigamit and idk if I like that or not but mu-date jd siya sa work but eh, g lang man pd.

Gors na guro ra kaayo ko for this pero enjoyable ra sd within the YA contemporary romance genre. Very cute, pero mas ma enjoy guro nako ni katong baby gay pa ko lol.

Okay, so I'm kinda stuck between a 2- and a 3-star rating. Like, 2.5 feels about right.

This was a cute and fun YA read that had potential. This had me in the first half. It just didn't quite hit for me in the second half. I couldn't get invested in the romance in the second half, which I felt like was a bit underdeveloped. But I did enjoy the boarding school vibe.

So, while I'm not exactly disappointed, I'm also not satisfied. It's... fine? It's okay, but not exactly. Idk. Still, if you're looking for a quick, light YA read, this is worth picking up.

Meh, wasn't really sold on the premise. The "Dead Poets Society" vibe was a fun setting.

A charming, funny, and very cute coming of age story, with a focus on the main character being trans. It was interesting to see how Charlie navigated his stay at an all-boys boarding school, and the shenanigans of STRIPE.

That said, I feel like most of the side characters, and unfortunately Jasper as well, were not developed enough, and sometimes they felt more like tropes rather than people. In terms of prose, nothing stood out to me, it felt very modern and somewhat in the realm of fanfiction, which isn't a detractor for me personally since I love fanfic, but thought I would point it out.

I listened to the audiobook, and it was so worth it, I loved Ben Balmaceda's performance. He gave so much life to all the characters!

The side characters truly carried this entire book. Specifically Blaze. He was so funny. I just wasn't cheering for Jasper and Charlie getting together at all, but i absolutely loved STRIP!

I did not understand the whole side story with P.M.? Just like what was the point of that?

This book had such a unique plot that I have not seen before, but the execution was a bit underwhelming. Jasper broke Charlie’s heart at a summer camp before Charlie transitioned, so Charlie spends the majority of the book angry at Jasper for something Jasper did not know he did. Even after  the rival stage in their relationship, it never fully felt like the two of them were getting closer (or Charlie less angry). I think the romance part of this book moved too fast without enough growth from rivals (kind of) to lovers. The two were always at odds with each other, and I would have liked to see them connect with each other more.

What saved this book for me was the secondary plot. Being at a boarding school was the perfect opportunity for a secret society type plot, which happened. It was an interesting concept that was a bit silly in theory, but I got so invested in it. The love letters were such a cute idea, and I think with some more time this would have made for the cutest romance plot. As is, it just fell flat.

I would recommend this book for any transgender people who are scared of never being ‘enough’ or passing enough for a certain gender. I think a lot of people would relate to all of Charlie’s anxieties. Also, anyone who loves a bit of light academia may enjoy this book.
