I was cackling at the funny moments throughout this book, but what the actual fuck was that ending? So unnecessary. It actually knocked it down to a 3 star for me, otherwise I was going to give it a 4. So stupid! Like it was only done to be "arty". It totally ruined the book for me.

Lovely, clever retelling that's true to the spirit of the original. Didn't quite stick the landing for me--without some of the societal/historical pressures of the original, Linda's character arc didn't feel quite as distinct, and some foreshadowing of the tragic end was lost. Still a great read, and one I can see myself rereading and enjoying even more.
