3.5/5 stars. The prose is beautiful and I loved Eve as a narrator bc I related to so many of her thoughts and feelings but I like a book with plot and a story to follow

I liked these essays a lot! I was gifted this book for my birthday and really enjoyed Babitz’s writing. It was hard to get into at first with the rambling and gossipy nature, but once I got used to it, I quite enjoyed it. I could never see myself living in LA (in fact, i think id despise it), but i loved experiencing it from Babitz’s perspective. This book has a very “hot bisexual girl summer” vibe to it.

It’s a shame that Babitz suffered from a degenerative brain disorder and became a recluse later in life.

Babitz draws you into the '60s it girl lifestyle and has some poignant and romantic (though she is opposed to traditional romance) conclusions on LA life. Transports you to the era and her love and appreciation for it seep into you. Newfound desire to move to California.
