easily my favorite book i’ve ever read. loveeeee the writing and humor so much.

i picked this one up because as a woman born and raised in LA i was getting pretty fed up with LA. i wanted to love LA again, and this book made me appreciate some of the things you easily forget when this place is all you’ve known. i hate it here a little less now, and mostly just find the worse things more comical and therefore endearing.

imagine my shock when i googled ms babitz midway through reading only to find out she’s recently just passed. her riveting and personal account of razzle-dazzle LA and Hollywood’s party scene felt so alive and current (despite being set in 60s/70s) that my mind failed to register she’s no longer the it girl strutting around California she once was. the honest re-tellings of her experience was v fun and i can definitely see why a lot are entranced by her life and witty writing.

veryyy excited to read more from her.
