idk this was kind of a miss for me. there were too many characters and i didn’t really feel any sort of connection to any of them because of it. the motivation of the antagonist wasn’t convincing. i didn’t hate it but i wouldn’t recommend it, which stinks because i love swansons other books

- I don't think the last chapter ( the survival of Jessica Winslow ) was necessary .
- Didn't give a sh*t about any of the characters .

3/5 Stars ⭐️

Nine Lives ultimately left me disappointed. While the premise had promise, I found myself unable to connect with any of the characters, which made it difficult to stay engaged with the story.

The murderer’s rationale, even when explained, didn’t hold up convincingly, and the motives felt poorly thought out. There wasn’t much suspense or surprise to the plot, so it lacked the twisty excitement I’d hoped for in a thriller.

I listened to the audiobook, and unfortunately, the narrator’s flat delivery didn’t add any spark. This might have been a better experience in print, as the audio lacked the depth or intensity that might have elevated the story.

The final chapter was the most interesting part, but it felt abrupt and disconnected, as though it belonged to a different story altogether. While the ending added some intrigue, it didn’t quite fit the narrative arc.

Overall, Nine Lives wasn’t a bad story, but it didn’t work for me. Fans of Swanson’s other books might still enjoy it, but I found it lackluster.

I just dont really like whodunnits, idk why i keep reading them. There were too many POVs in this one as well and it was tough to keep thinking back and forth about the mystery.

Enjoyed the ending tho.

I liked 8 Perfect Murders and I liked Nine Lives. Swanson sure loves his Agatha. I'm not a big fan of the ending and it seems many thrillers/mysteries ended like this back in the day... Guess I wouldn't have liked those books much either.

Overall I didn't love or hate the book.

I liked the idea and concept of this, but ultimately found it quite slow and didn't find myself wanting to know what happened next. Disappointed.

i thought it was fine, easy to read i liked the chapters and parts and how it was a bit predictable for the end of each chapter but the ending was a bit underwhelming i guess.
