Wow, what a ride!  This book gets dark (and at times VERY Descriptive) very quickly and I even wondered whether it might be too much for me (and I NEVER get affected by anything I read), but by God, I almost read this in one sitting.

A commercial airliner crashes into a nuclear facility, and this novel does not shy away from the descriptions of what happens to people on board and on the ground before it hits the plant.

Do the townspeople need to evacuate? What can and should the fire department do to help?  What about the staff at the facility?  So many difficult choices and I particularly liked that this is not a "happy ever after, good will always win out" type novel.

These were characters I became invested in and the vivid descriptions made this feel all too real

I enjoyed it, although especially at the beginning I think maybe fewer points of view would have helped.  I knew it would all come together but it still felt like a lot of people to keep track of.  I do think it was a good idea to start with the plane though so the reader never wonders if terrorism is involved.

There was some valorization of small town life and a bit of if only the two sides both could talk to each other which I find I don't have much patience for these days.

I wonder if the first book also has underwater welding.

This book had me stressed the entire time & after I finished it I had to utilize my emotional regulation skills so I wouldn't end up sobbing. This book was the closest yet to making me cry & I'd say that's worth 5 stars all on it's own.

Are you looking for a fast-paced action-packed book about a commercial airliner that crashes into a nuclear power plant? Was that too specific 🤣. Worst Case Scenario offers a plot that moves quickly and characters to care for and hope. The author has clearly done her research in her latest flight related disaster book.

I read the second half of the book in one sitting (rare, because I read quite slowly). While the chance of this happening is a very rare event, it now seems not impossible which is very scary. Stepping through each of the decisions and looking at the wider effects on the community and world, was quite fascinating.

I still have Falling on my shelf to read and really enjoyed Drowning. What will @tj_author come up with next!

Outstanding! Fantastic! A wild ride from start to finish! Truly the worst of scenarios! 10/10 would recommend!

Worst Case Scenario has quite the accurate title.
A plane crashes due to a pilot medical emergency, 295 souls on board. No survivors. Two functional nuclear reactors are hit in Waketa, Minnesota.
But as happens in action thrillers, what seems to be the original source of disaster unfolds into something else.
I'd just read Chernobyl 01:23:40 by Andrew Leatherbarrow (definitely recommended as an excellent non-fiction read), so this was a timely fictional tie-in for me. It also reminded me of the show 9-1-1, with the various rescue operations.
This is my second T.J. Newman book and I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. I would say it's perfect as a travel thriller, but airplane stories probably should be avoided in that regard!
Recommended!
