What would happen if the Chernobyl disaster happened in America?

This book was written to be an action movie script, edge of your seat with no breaks in the drama.

A bit cheesy and at times unrealistic, but it ultimately was a fun and fast read

This book wasn't as gripping as his other novels. There were a lot of characters that were hard to keep straight. Also it was very tech about the nuclear power. In this novel an airplane crashes into a nuclear power plant. It takes out a bridge also and on the bridge is a family. Everyone is killed except for the little boy, Connor. He is rescued by Dani the firefighter. Inside the powerplant Steve is the fire chief and he is accidentally exposed to radiation and so I. The end he voluntees to help open a sluice gate. Jo's also helps him.

Overall - 4/5. I happened into this book at Park Road Books in Charlotte - the cover looked intriguing and somewhat familiar and once I saw the autographed copy sticker - I decided it was coming home with me. This was such a bingable thriller and I couldn’t put it down!!! I’m not going to lie - I had ALL the feelings during this book grief, sadness, anger, hope, etc. I thought it did a great job of conveying different emotions in the reader during different chapters. I think I had more emotions with this book than your usual thriller - and I really enjoyed it. She also did a fantastic job of pulling you into the characters in a quick time and wanting them to succeed and be okay. I wouldn’t consider it a typical thriller due to that - but I really liked it! I also felt a bit confused with the details of some of the things of the nuclear power plant - but appreciated how much research it seems like she did to perfect the science.

I really enjoyed reading TJ Newman and have already added her other books to my TBR! If you like fast paced action thrillers that really explore humanity and resilience- then you’ve found your next book!

A 5 star read knocked down because the beginning chapters were a bit of a struggle to get through (I had started the book once before, hit a stopping point and quit reading.) I get these chapters help set everything up but it's a lot of information and characters and events all at once and was a struggle for me to process what was plot setting and what was more important.  But ultimately, the more into the book I got, the faster the pages turned. And the information about nuclear power plants and their vulnerabilities should be frightening to everyone.
