I get the hype over this book. Once I got to about 25%, I couldn't put it down. It gave me The Hating Game but fantasy vibes for a while there.
I really enjoyed both main characters and all the side characters. I also liked that the author didn't make anyone so overpowered like a lot of fantasy novels like to do. I really felt like I could relate somewhat to these characters.
There's a lot of talk about the gods and history. It's not confusing at all. Ross does an amazing job explaining everything.

Eh. I'm invested enough to keep going but honestly this could've been better
3.5 Stars.. I enjoyed the book, it was a fun and different and interesting read, but predictable in my opinion and I actually stopped and soft dnf at 37% for around 2 months before going back to it and was definitely not super itching tl finish it.. so it was definitely not a super amazing gripping read (to me anyway) and I will read the 2nd book, but just because I am invested in the characters slightly.

I really loved the writing style and I felt immersed into the world. The letters didn't feel cringey at all, even the romantic ones.
