Beautiful, this book is so beautiful, everything about this book—the plot, storytelling, atmosphere created, characterization and their development, and even the mythological elements presented—is a pure beauty.

Honestly, for me this book is still far from a satisfying fantasy book, but for some reason I think that's what makes this book extraordinary, because everything feels right and enough. So personally i think this book might be a good choice for a reader who want to read a romantasy book for the first time.

Speaking about romance, oh God, i really really really love how Roman and Iris's story blooming slowly but surely. It feels very intimate but also heartwarming, so beautiful. Their wedding scene seemed rushed amidst the hustle and bustle of war, making it like an oasis in the middle of a barren desert. God, i love them.

Actually, there are still a lot of things that I think need to be questioned and I hope to find the answers in the sequel to this series. Therefore, I am really looking forward to reading the second book and hopefully it will be satisfying. But, as the first book and the opening of the Roman Kitt and Iris Winnow story, this book was more than enough to impress me.

Beautiful, almost lyrical writing and loveable characters. I devoured this one.

honestly what the hell was that ending??? i was so prepared, so ready to give this book 5 stars because of the beautiful writing and the even more beautiful quotes but???????? the ending was so rushed and it did nothing but make me angry

I had high expectations you know? And they weren't met.

I was expecting a good fantasy novel. But there was barely any magic and it was literally like reading a world war II story

I don't know why I expected an enemies to lovers, even when the title said RIVALS, because what I ended up with was a one sided workplace rivalry

People say it's "better than fourth wing" and I will have to respectfully disagree

And after about 80% of the book, after the main characters got together, I lost interest in the rest of the plot.

The writing was good and all but this book couldn't get me hooked on it.
Had to DNF at like 80%

the story delves into loss, guilt, and regret, with writing that completely drew me in. i absolutely love marisol and keegan—keegan is so strong and authoritative that i adore her—and attie is such a loyal friend. the dynamic between iris and roman is fantastic; they’re opposites yet clearly better for each other, and the found-family aspect is heartwarming. chapter 27 was a particular highlight for me. there are also some shocking moments: roman literally crawled to reach her!!! and forest’s actions left me stunned—he’s clearly not the same after the war, and i desperately want an explanation.
