This was such a thought provoking novel! I came away from this book wanting to learn more about women's history.
This book follows two young women from different circumstances whose lives cross over in an unexpected way. They both strive to better themselves and their lives through learning but must overcome obstacles to accomplish this.
It was a bit slow to start and get into the story but once I got to know the characters I couldn't put it down. I felt so much empathy for the main characters! It's so sad to know that if they'd lived in a different time their lives would have been so different.

Really enjoyable book. Giving an insight into life in the past for women who get pregnant. I especially enjoyed the authors note at the end of the book , explaining her research and how the story developed, and what she wanted the story to be.

I enjoyed this read. It’s was a bit slow but once it picked up, I wanted to know more. It was gut wrenching to read & realize the marginalization of women at the hands of other women.
