ARC provided by netgalley in exchange for an honest review!

This was a wonderful YA read with a well-rounded conclusion that felt very satisfactory. I still believe this duology has one of the most unique magic systems within its plot that is really unique & interesting to unravel.
The characters throughout are enjoyable & I loved seeing Adrius and Marlow again. The tension/romance was just as high as the first book, but I do think I was a little more enticed with the plot more with book one compared to this one.
I also appreciated how all questions we as readers had when finishing GotC were answered one way or another with this final book!
I’m definitely going to miss these characters, but I can’t wait to see what Katy has up her sleeve with her next pieces of works!

Marlow is in over her head... suspected of murderer, living with a newfound but untrustworthy father, worrying about a missing best friend is and knowing that the boy she loves is more out of reach than ever. But she doesn't give up, determined to save herself, her friends and all of Caraza from a threat greater than she initially thought.

This sequel to Garden of the Cursed has everything I loved about the first book and more: a more eventful and suspenseful story, more relatable and interesting side characters, more relationshipbuilding and more surprising plot twists. I still really enjoyed the unique magic system and Marlow as a main character, maybe even more than the first time. I would definitely highly recommend this duology, especially to lovers of YA fantasy and romantasy!

I had requested this book not knowing that it was a sequel, and after I was approved and read the synopsis, I immediately went and read the first book! I really enjoyed the first book, and I also adored this one. This book was a lot more developed in its found family than the first, and I loved the angst between the two main characters. Honestly, everything about this book was great. It’s just that the ending felt a little rushed, so I wish it was written a little better. But overall, that’s my only complaint. Four stars!

I really enjoyed the conclusion to this duology, although I didn’t like it quite as much as the first book. The characters frustrated me at times, but ultimately it did make them human.
I was hoping for more of a redemption arc for Amara though. I also wish Gemma was more involved in the plot. It felt like she kind of fell out of the plot a bit.
The ending did feel a bit rushed, but I still felt it was a solid conclusion. I’d definitely be interested in reading more from this author!

I sincerely forgot how much I didn’t like the MMC. This book didn’t really help, honestly. 2.5 rounded up to 3. I hardly was able to get into this story. There were a few areas that were fun to read, but there was also some loose strings that I found oddly untied. It was good, I guess, but her first book was better.

Despite the just confusingly atrocious cover (seriously what was the pub thinking?), I really enjoy this YA fantasy duology, though I did like the first book a tad better than the second.

Such a cool world that feels like Great Gatsby but in New Orleans and with an interesting magic system involving curses and spells. This second book continues the power struggles between the opulent bourgeoisie and the gang-infested struggling working class folk on the other side of the city, while the FMC searches for answers about her family and *other" mysteries (I won't go into for spoilers).

I took off a star because there were some very serious huge plot moments that happened sort of suddenly and then just brushed over while they moved on to the next. this book was maybe suffering from being condensed into one and maybe would have been better split into a second so that those moments could have had more time to shine. it just took the seriousness of the tone down a peg for me, which was a bummer.

overall I think this duology is worth a read if you're looking for a fun fantasy world, good mix of plot and romance, an FMC who is the "young but significantly gifted badass" archetype, and a bit of mystery.
