A bit better. But still not enough in it for me. And I'm still having some trouble tracking who is whom and more importantly caring. Adding some backstory definitely made this one more interesting. And the memorial picnic was one of the best parts. Momiji's story also made the fantasy element seem more real. 3.5 of 5.

Volume 4 has Akito's first full (harrowing) appearance, Ayame is introduced as another zodiac (bringing out another side to Yuki) and we get an interesting look into Motherhood through the eyes of Tohru and Momiji- great volume!

I had totally forgotten about Momijo's back story and it's honestly so depressing. These characters really go through hell and back emotionally, particularly the Sohmas. I had also forgotten how much I love Ayame - such a ridiculous character! I'm also beginning to realise that I probably loved this series so much as a teenager because of the gender fuckery and queer baity vibes.
