Book 38 of 2024: Heidi - Johanna Spyri
Heidi is sent to live with her grandfather in the Alps at the age of 5, everyone is scared of the Alm-Uncle and fears it’s a terrible idea, however Heidi flourishes under his care. Then she is sent away to Frankfurt to be a companion for Clara, a young girl who is disabled, but Heidi longs for the Swiss mountains.
Review:
⭐️ 4/5
A sweet nostalgic read for me as I used to watch the TV Movie version with my grandma as a child. It was more religious than I had anticipated and I’m not 100% sure how I feel about the miracle cure of the Swiss Alps (maybe I need to try it!) but nonetheless it was a nice children’s book. Heidi is a very cute character and her infectious kindness is something I think we could all benefit from.
