The movies really down play Neville’s part in things and that he’s a really valuable character. They also downplay how fucking rude Draco is. Like man Draco is adorable but book Draco is hateful as hell. Same with how straight up abusive his family was. I thought this book was pretty cute and exciting in how it introduces you to magic and Harry’s new life.

Hate J.K. Rowling with a burning passion. She did write a nice series, if you ignore the plot holes.

This series will forever hold a special place in my heart. I never ever get tired of coming back to Hogwarts and losing myself in these stories for hours. I often find myself coming back to this series when I need comfort and crave nostalgia, so what better time to read it than when I am making my transition from college to post/grad life! I have been needing to go back to Hogwarts so alas, I am back. Reading this book for the fifth time, the only thing I wish was that I could read it again for the first time. I still remember the magic of the first time ever discovering which house Harry & Ron would end up in, and then falling in love with Hermione. These stories have had such a profound impact on my life — allowing me to find my love of reading, getting lost in the pages of a book, & ultimately wanting to write stories myself.

I seriously just love these stories so much and I cannot wait to continue the series! Especially since this read through, I am listening to the audiobooks narrated by Stephen Fry for the first time! It is giving me a fresh take on the series, which has been so much fun! Now onto Chamber of Secrets…

In the end, this book will never lose its magic for me and it continues to be one of my favorites in the series. It is such a great introduction to the world of HP that you cannot put it down, and it makes you eager to read the rest of the series. As usual, I rate this book 5/5 stars! 🌟

Would have liked to see more character depth and a more fleshed out magic system. Tbh I could write an essay on why the first two books of this series are the weakest. Also fuck TERFS.

Leitura= 03/2016

Why the heck did I not read Harry Potter before now...its flipping magical (literally).  But better late than never, no?  I grew up with the films and was therefore never interested in reading Harry Potter.  I was afraid of getting bored since most of the story is familiar from films.  Now I finally dared to read the story and loved it very much.
However, I have to say that I'm not the biggest fan of the writing style. Of course the story is beautiful, but many scenes were too little embellished and dealt with too quickly for me, as was the development of some friendships and relationships.
Nevertheless, I love the story very much and will start with the second volume as soon as possible
