This book is really pretty. I like the way the male and female main characters are written and the plot of the story. I don’t know why it took me so long to make connections to the other two books, but when I did, everything made so much more sense. I loved the way the story circled back in on itself to make all the other books connect to this one. I felt a connection with Emma because mom-trauma and I understood her deep desire to fix her cracks. I don’t know how anyone picks a favorite from this series — they’re all so good in different ways. None of the stories are alike, and lots of romance authors have a set recipe they use for a book that makes them all similar, so I found that really refreshing. There was a little spice but again, not too much. I think all of Jimenez’s books have so many nuggets of wisdom and truth about love, family, and relationships. I can’t wait to read more of her work.

I really enjoyed Part of Your World, which is why I picked this one up from Book of the Month. Wow! This was great! I absolutely loved the chemistry between Justin and Emma, their conversations do such a good job of showing how compatible they are as people. It was so fun to see the connections and Easter eggs from Part of Your World, I'm sure I missed some from Yours Truly and I'll have to read that one as well. There are definitely some darker topics covered in this story, so I recommend checking the content warnings, but if you're a contemporary romance reader I think you'd probably enjoy this!

Emma’s inner turmoil, reactions and approaches to a challenging, chaotic parental figure felt relatable to my experiences and well-done. I think the romance took a bit of a backseat to the focus on Emma’s growth but I didn’t mind that, although I would’ve liked to have gotten a bit more of Justin’s perspective on his own struggles.

Overall, there was a lot of laughing, crying and healing. This is not a lighthearted romance and so be prepared and take care of yourself going into this, especially those with complex relationships with parents.

This is my second book by Abby Jiminez and I enjoyed it a lot more than the first one I read by her (The Happily Ever After Playlist—I’m sorry I know this one is beloved 🙈). I know this is the third book in the Part of Your World Series, which I haven’t read and I didn’t feel lost reading this book in the slightest, although I did hear that there are some fun Easter Eggs in here for those who have read it. This is also a dual narration, which always amplifies an audiobook in my opinion, although I found each narrator’s performance a bit average. Nothing to write home about.

Loved this book. Most realistic love story I’ve ever read. Felt like I was watching real life. The trauma and therapy and self healing is incredibly different to see in a book like this, but made me want to read it even more. Everyone should read this book.

Abby Jimenez never misses. This book warmed my heart, then ripped it out and stomped all over it, then put it back in a thousand times over. If you have mommy issues, make sure you think long and hard about whether you’re ready to think about them because this book will really give you something to think about. Emma and Justin had a sweet, simple bond that I think spoke to the message of the book. Something uncomplicated between them in their extremely complicated lives. At any rate, this book is an emotional rollercoaster, but Jimenez treats it with beautiful, tender care.
